The Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Washington University has been graduating surgical specialists for nearly a century. For the last 42 years, I have had the privilege of actively serving the Department as four remarkable chairmen admirably guided the training and research programs. The faculty has fostered the excellent patient care provided by our alumni throughout the world.

Currently, under the leadership of Richard A. Chole, MD, PhD, the Department is fifth among all otolaryngology programs in the country as ranked by U.S. New & World Report. During the federal fiscal year ending Sept. 30. 2006, the School of Medicine received $354 million from the National Institutes of Health, coming in 789 separate grants.

Our alumni can take pride in the Department, and we hope you will join us at the yearly Academy Alumni Reception in September or Ogura Lectureship Day and Graduation Celebration in June. We appreciate the gifts of support and are proud of your accomplishments.
